Upon arrival in Holly Springs, you will have a sense that you have been transported back to a more genteel world where homes were built to reflect the elegance of the southern lifestyle. Your first stop is at the historic First Presbyterian Church. This was the first religious organization to be formally established in Marshall County. The present structure, the fourth to be built by this congregation, was built in 1860. This church is a magnificent monument to the skill of Mississippi slave craftsmen as it was built largely by slave labor.

Your next stop will be at the (4) acre estate of Walter Place Mansion, Cottages and Gardens. Walter Place built in 1859 with its distinctive combination of Greek columns and crenelated medieval towers was a temporary home to the family of Ulysses S. Grant when the Union forces occupied this region. A guided tour of the mansion, two guest cottages and gardens of this magnificent estate is included with your Holly Springs tour.

Following your tour of Walter Place, you will stop for a delicious Southern Style Buffet lunch at Annie’s. If we are lucky, Miss Annie will not be too busy to sing a few songs for us! Before returning to Memphis a special stop will be made at the Marshall County Historical Museum.
