Your journey begins in 1948 when Gladys and Vernon Presley arrive in Memphis from Tupelo, MS with their teenage son Elvis and Grandma Millie Mae, to start a new life.  After living in a boarding house for less than a year, the Presley’s moved into Lauderdale Courts, a public housing complex for low-income families.  The time living at Lauderdale Courts had a significant impact on the life of this extraordinary young man, as evidenced in later years when he loved to show his “Hollywood” friends his old neighborhood, where he once lived a normal family life.

As your tour continues, your guide will take you to other sites that were important to Elvis, such as his alma mater, Humes High School, Lansky’s Men’s Wear on Beale St., St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a favorite charity, the Memphian Theatre, where Elvis & Priscilla dated, and Immaculate Conception School.

A special picture stop will be made at the Overton Park Band Shell, wherein a 1956 rock ‘n’ roll show a young Elvis’ nervous wiggle became a signature move recognized the world over.

In 1954 Elvis recorded his first record to hit the airwaves on a program called “Red Hot & Blue” at the Chisca Hotel in Memphis and his life was never the same.  Today you will be able to tour the Memphis Recording Studio, now known as Sun Studio, where energetic tour guides will take you through the Sun Studio music museum to the original recording studio, a must-see for all Memphis visitors.  Imagine standing on the same spot where Elvis recorded his first Rock ‘n’ Roll song!

On our all Elvis tour, all roads lead to Graceland, where you will pass through the most photographed gates in the world as you journey to the estate of Elvis Presley, one of the most popular entertainers of all time.  You will receive an audio guide of Lisa Marie Presley taking you through the Graceland Mansion, Vernon’s Office, Trophy Room, Racquet Ball Court and finally to the Meditation Garden, where Elvis and his family members are buried.  Your Graceland Platinum ticket includes the Car Museum, Elvis’ Airplanes, the Lisa Marie and Hound Dog II, Sincerely Elvis Museum, and changing special exhibits.

Civil War & Antebellum South

Holly Springs, MS
The Mississippi Delta’s earliest storytellers possessed a similar trait that is detected in the classic writings of southern-based native authors, such as, William Faulkner, Eudora Welty, Tennessee Williams and in the contemporary writings of John Grisham. It is a sense of place and a devotion to the traditions of its past. Nowhere in the South are these traditions more evident than in small southern Mississippi towns.
